Happy Sunday motivates voters

Ongole: The Happy Sunday programme, which encourages the public to take a break from routine and participate in fun-filled programmes every week, also motivated them to exercise their right to vote compulsorily.

The programme was held at the 60 feet road this week with the theme on elections. The youth, children and adults irrespective of men and women actively participated in the musical chairs, tug of war, caroms, ring, chess, puli-meka, lemon in spoon, snakes, and ladder, shuttle badminton as part of the Happy Sunday activities. The artistes of Bharatanatyam, folk, western dance, cultural and cine songs mesmerised the public with their performance. The masters and students from various dance academies in the town and others performed to the tunes of popular numbers.

STEP CEO Dr B Ravi said that they are organising multiple awareness and motivational programmes as the urban voters are not showing much interest in taking part in the elections. He asked the public to must utilize their vote in this elections but never get influenced by the money or liquor or any gifts by the candidates. He advised the public to vote for NOTA if they do not like any of the candidates but participate in voting.

MEPMA project director B Singaiah said that the Election Commission has made all arrangements for the convenient voting, including the ramps for physically disabled. He thanked the students and teachers from Andhra High School, Sarayu Natyalaya and Gayatri High School for their performances to create awareness on the vote.

OMC assistant city planner Z Sudhakar, DEs P Anil Kumar, L Bhaskar, manager P Srihari, AMRUT UIE B Bhargavi Devi, and other officials also participated in the programme.
