Guntur: Liquor sale on October 2 shameful

Guntur: TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu said it was shame on the government for selling liquor even on Gandhiji birth anniversary with police protection. He addressed at a programme organised at the TDP state party office here on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary on Wednesday. Naidu said that even British government had followed the rule of law but the current YSRCP government in the state was not honouring this basic tenant of democracy.

He said he had never seen this type of government and recalled that the TDP government had long ago introduced village secretariat system which was cancelled by the YSRCP government cancelled through a GO.

Expressing serious concern over functioning of the government, he said sand problem had been continuing for the last four months and people were reeling under the impact of power cuts. He recalled that they had given uninterrupted power supply during the TDP rule.

He recalled how the TDP government had solved power shortage problem in 2014 within two- months. Naidu said the YSRCP government was sacking the outsourcing employees in various government departments and recruiting party activists in the Grama Sachivalayams. He expressed surprise over painting of YSRCP colours for Grama Sachivalayam buildings.

Expressing concern over increasing attacks on TDP activists, he extended his support to the party activists who were harassed by the police in Macherla mandal in Guntur district. He urged the police to work as per rules and recalled that those who violated the norms were facing CBI cases. He said it was the responsibility of the government to do justice to all irrespective of political affiliations. Earlier, he paid tributes to the Mahatma Gandhi and urged the youth follow his footsteps.

Former ministers Nakka Anand Babu, Alapati Rajendra Prasad, former MP Yadlapati Venkata Rao were among those participated.
