Guntur: Jana Chaitanya Vedika state president V Lakshmana Reddy demanded the State Election Commission to review its decision on postponement of local body elections and take steps to conduct them as per schedule. He said that State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar had taken a unilateral decision to postpone the local body elections without consulting the Strate government, which was unfortunate.

He said that the decision was not correct. Addressing the media here on Monday, he urged the SEC to give permission to distribute the house site pattas to all eligible people on March 25. He urged Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan to order an inquiry into the postponement of local body elections. He recalled that if the State government failed to conduct local body elections before March 31, it would be extremely difficult to get the 14th Finance Commission grants of Rs.5100 crore to the state.
