Guntur: Implement active surveillance to check Covid-19 deaths

Guntur: Principal Secretary to government and Covid-19 special officer for Guntur district, B Rajasekhar, directed the officials to implement active surveillance to check deaths caused by Covid-19 pandemic.

He addressed a meeting held at collectorate in Guntur city on Sunday.

Speaking on this occasion, he said that though Covid-19 positive cases were on rise, deaths were low. He appreciated the officials for less deaths in the district. He said that Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney directed the officials to take steps to reduce deaths caused by Covid-19. He directed the officials to register details of above 60years of ageand people suffering from chronic diseases residing in the containment and non-containment zones.

He instructed them to conduct a screening test, including BP, sugarand oxygen levels also. He said the teams should know high-risk category people details and their primary and secondary contacts.

He instructed the officials to conduct medical tests on suspects. He directed them to take steps to get test results within 24 hours of sample sent to lab.

District collector, I Samuel Aand Kumar explained steps taken to check the spread of Covid-19. Guntur range IGP J Prabhakar, Guntur urban SP RN Ammi Reddy, Guntur rural SP Vishal Gunni were among those present.
