Govt signs MoU with MSTC for sand supply in Andhra Pradesh
Amaravati: The state govt signed an MoU with Metal Scrap Trading Corporation (MSTC), a Central public sector undertaking as part of upgraded sand mining policy. The agreement was signed in the presence of minister for mines Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy at panchayat raj commissioner office here on Monday.
It may be noted that the state government set up a committee with ministers to improve sand supply to people. As part of the decision of the committee, the government divided the sand reaches in the state into three packages. Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari will come under package I, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasm in package II and Nellore, Chittoor, Kurnool, Kadapa and Anantapur district into package III. Speaking on the occasion, Ramachandra Reddy said that they had selected the MSTC for effective supply of sand. He said the MSTC has experience in introduction of e-commerce in sand reaches in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
Panchayat raj principal secretary Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said the sand policy was tweaked and MoU was signed with MSTC to implement a fool-proof system in sand supply, MSTC deputy general manager Ganesh Jaykumar said they were successfully supplying sand to people in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Director of minies G Venkata Reddy, APMDC vice-chairman and managing director M Harinayanan were present.
