Tirupati: Expo helps students to understand statistics
Tirupati: National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL) Director Dr Amit Kumar Patra on Wednesday inaugurated the travelling exhibition on 'Statistics at Work' organised by Regional Science Centre (RSC) here.
The exhibition will be open to the visitors for about a month at RSC from 9.30 am to 6 pm. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Patra said the exhibition would help students to know importance of statistics and its vast applications extended from household to worldwide and beyond.
He also emphasised the application of statistics in science and beyond and also explained various methods adopted in scientific studies for samplings, results and outcome of data intensive events.
Indian Society for Probability and Statistics (ISPS) president and SV University Statistics Prof P Raja Sekhara Reddy elaborated on the tremendous opportunities available for students who are willing to pursue their career in statistics. He also emphasised that in the present scenario, world was short of data scientists and any brilliant student can find a very lucrative career in this field.
Election system, census, healthcare, budget, growth expectations, resources planning, education and many other development goals of any country were planned based on statistics.
