Eluru: Seminar on Gandhian ideals concludes at St Theresa College

Eluru: A two-day international conference to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji concluded at St Theresa College here on Saturday. The conference titled 'Impact on Gandhian Ideals on Socio- Economic, Cultural and Literary Aspects'.

The chief guest for the valedictory was Prof K Sree Ramesh, Principal of Arts and Commerce College, Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajamahedravaram. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Ramesh said if there was any personality in the modern age for us to look up to is none other than Gandhiji. He stressed on the importance of Gandhian way of life for a better environment and better society.

Principal Dr Sister Marietta D'Mello said this was not the end of seminar, but it is the beginning of an era of practice of Gandhian values which will usher-in a better human society.

Guest of honour Dr Kuppuram from Turkana University, Kenya said Gandhiji gave importance to women empowerment and walking in his footsteps would make our social environment a peaceful and a productive one.

The programme was organized by Dr Madhavi, Ume Salma and Dr Ratna Mary, heads of English, Languages & Social Sciences respectively in collaboration with Dr Ratnakar, CEO of International Multi-disciplinary Research Foundation, Vijayawada.
