Eluru: Farmers burn copies of Union Budget-2020

Eluru: Farmers under the auspices of AP Rythu Sangham burnt copies of Union Budget-2020 at Ambedkar statue here on Thursday, demanding that the Centre allot more funding for the agricultural sector and Polavaram project.

An altercation between the agitators and police took place when the latter preventing the protesters from burning the copies of the budget. The farmers tore the copies and resumed their protest.

Addressing the gathering, the sangham district secretary, K Srinivas alleged that the BJP government at the Centre had cut allocation to agriculture sector and offered huge concessions for corporate houses.

The farmers raised slogans against the central government and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi allot more funds for the welfare of the farmers.
