Eluru: BJP trying to divide people, alleges roundtable
Eluru: A roundtable organised by the Left parties here on Thursday charged the BJP led NDA government at Centre of trying to divide people on religious lines by bringing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and implementing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR).
The speakers at the roundtable opined that it would have been better if the BJP concentrated on burning issues of increasing unemployment, farmers suicides, rising prices of essential commodities, basic amenities to people and other issues rather than diverting people's attention through CAA, NRC and NPR.
The Left parties opined that the BJP had no right to suspect citizens of the country as it was trying to implement NRC all over the country. It was shame on the part of YSRCP, TDP and Jana Sena Party who have been supporting the BJP policies.
The roundtable also alleged that the BJP was cheating people of the state by denying Special Category Status, which is the necessity for state's development.
CPM leader P Kishore, Ch Babu Rao, CPI leader D Prabhakar, CPI ML New Democracy leader U Venkateshwara Rao and others spoke at the roundtable.
