Eluru: Arrangements for transparent counting amid tight security
Eluru : District Election Officer District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh accompanied by district Superintendent of Police D Mary Prashanti inspected strong rooms where EVMs were preserved at Sir CR Reddy Engineering College here on Friday.
All arrangements have been made to conduct counting of votes transparently amid tight security.
District Joint Collector B Lavanyaveni, Additional SP Swaruparani, ITDA PO M Suryateja, DRO D Pushpamani and others were present. Collector Venkatesh signed the relevant register.
Later, he said that in relation to the counting of votes in the 7 Assembly constituencies under the Eluru Parliament Constituency in the district, 14 tables for each constituency-- for Assembly segment and Parliament–total 28 tables for each constituency have been set up. Similarly, depending on the constituency, two to three tables have been set up for postal ballot counting.
Regarding the postal ballot, two types of postal ballots are being counted. Counting of postal ballots will be done in a separate hall in relation to Eluru Parliament Constituency. About 1,7000 postal ballots to be counted in the district.
Arrangements have been made to complete the counting of votes in the 16 to 21 rounds of the respective constituencies. Regarding the EVM vote counting process, a plan has been prepared to provide the complete results of the votes in the EVM between 3 and 4 pm and the complete results of the postal ballot votes before 5 pm.
Counting of votes will be done under observation of micro-observers at each table.
Along with them returning officers NSK Khajavali, Y Bhavani Shankari, K Bhaskar, K Addaiah, M Mukkanti and others were present.
