Eluru: 1,089 foreign returnees under supervision
Eluru: District Collector R Muthyala Raju has directed ASHA workers and ANMs to verify the health condition of 1,089 persons who returned from foreign trips in the district as part of measures to check the spread of Coronavirus.
He convened a meeting with medical and health department officials here on Thursday night and guided them on the measures to be taken to prevent incidence of the deadly virus spreading fast around the world.
He said if the health workers identify any symptoms of Coronavirus, the patients should be rushed to isolation ward and treatment should be started. Their samples should be sent for confirmation of the virus, he said.
The District Collector further instructed the officials that Coronavirus suspected persons' relatives should be confined to their residence and they should be kept in observation for the symptoms of the virus.
The District Collector urged people to dial the toll-free number 1800 233 1077 immediately, if they identify anybody in their vicinity returning from foreign countries recently. It is difficult to predict the extent of damage caused by even a single positive Coronavirus case, he added.
