Educate farmers on best practices

Kurnool: District Collector S Satyanarayana directed the officials of the Agriculture department to educate farmers to reap bountiful harvest. He attended as chief guest for one-day awareness programme organised on the various schemes being implemented for farmers during Kharif season at Sunaina Auditorium here at the Collectorate on Monday.

Addressing on the occasion, he stated the government is giving high priority for the Agriculture department among all the departments. The suggestions of agriculture officials would help the famers to reap good dividends from the crops, he said while expressing anguish over farmers not getting support price for their farm produce.

The Collector instructed the agriculture officials and staff to visit fields and educated the farmers about the best practices in farming. He informed the officials to ensure Kurnool district emerges as an ideal district in farming for other districts in the State.

D Muralidhar Reddy, Special Commissioner of the Agriculture department, directed officials concerned to upload the particulars of village profile, agriculture extent, soil testing, demand for chemical and organic fertilisers, and seed particulars besides crop yield through an app. Joint Director of Agriculture (JDA) Tagore Naik, ATMA Project Director Uma Maheshwaramma, State and district-level agriculture officials, scientists, MPEOs and others participated.
