Anantapur: CPI district secretary D Jagadish made an appeal to the Election Commission to take the open declaration of Anantapur MP JC Diwakar Reddy that he had spent Rs 50 crore in Tadipatri by bribing every voter with Rs 2,000 per vote, on a suo-motu basis and try him as per the law of the land.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Jagadish said that the Election Commission should not keep quiet but act suo-motu on his open statement recorded live by the electronic media. The Election Commission has permitted Rs 70 lakh expenditure for an MP candidate and Rs 20 lakh for MLA candidate.

Diwakar also says that every candidate from Anantapur to Srikakulam district paid Rs 2,000 per vote. He also found fault with the Election Commission for appointing a tainted bureaucrat like LV Subramanyam as Chief Secretary as he was an accused in a CBI case.
