Kurnool: District Collector, G Veera Pandiyan directed the officials to take measures to overcome drinking water problems during coming summer. He held a review meeting with the engineers of Rural Water Scheme (RWS) and Public Health at Collector's conference hall here on Monday.

Addressing on the occasion, Pandiyan said that the officials have to prepare a contingent plan on how to overcome the drinking water problems at rural and urban areas. The officials of RWS, Irrigation, APSPDCL, Pubic Health and Municipal Commissioners would have a joint inspection at the water scarcity areas and can take up necessary works wherever it is necessary.

The RWS Superintending Engineer has been instructed to see the water is released to Low Level Canal from TB dam. This will cater the drinking water needs of Adoni and its surrounding areas. The SE was also ordered to write a letter to government and to the officials of TB dam for allocation of water share.

The SE, Ramachandra Murthy said, `` presently we have 1 tmc ft water at Sunkesula Barrage and 2.5 tmc ft water at Gajula Dinne Project.''

He further stated a proposal to 475 works worth Rs.15 crores under SDRF grant contingent action plan and 331 works worth Rs.8.82 crore was sent to government for according permission. Rs.15 crore is pending to the previous year works that is yet to be released from the government.

In-charge SE Rural Water Scheme, Vidya Sagar, SE Public Health, Srinath Reddy, Kurnool Municipal Commissioner, S Ravindra Babu and other departmental heads participated in the meeting.
