Deputy CM Alla Nani inaugurates paddy purchase centre in Eluru
Eluru: The State government is committed to save the interests of farmers and purchasing paddy from them by paying support price at the hundreds of paddy purchase centres set up in the state, said Deputy Chief Minister Alla Nani.
Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy, Nani inaugurated a paddy purchase centre here on Thursday. He said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is fulfilling all the promises made in election manifesto. The investment help of Rs 13,500 to farmers is Rs 1,000 more than the promised Rs 12,500 in the manifesto. Lakhs of farmers have been getting benefitted by the scheme.
Coming down heavily on former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Nani said that the earlier government had made a mockery of the purchase centres by not paying the price to the farmers immediately. It used the scheme for propaganda and put the farmers to untold hardships.
The farmers used to suffer losses and lend money to start farming activity as the government had diverted funds for other purposes without paying the farmers first. However, the present government was extending the help to farmers immediately so that the farmers get maximum benefit, he claimed.
The government was determined to totally eliminate the middlemen who exploit farmers by buying their produce at meager price, he said.
