Create 2 lakh days of guaranteed employment under MGNREGA, officials told

Eluru: District Collector Praveen Kumar has directed the officials to create more than two lakh days of guaranteed employment everyday under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). He reviewed action plan for employment guarantee for 2019-20 and progress of plan for 2014-19 here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector ordered the officials to speed up works to suit the requirement while maintaining quality in works. He said the officials to take up the task like a movement by providing 100 days of guaranteed wage to every family. The officials should compare wage days provided last year while allotting the days during this year.

The progress would be meaningful when the officials successfully upload particulars of the works in the stipulated time frame. He suggested the officials to review the works of employment guarantee every day in coordination with computer operators. The officials should provide basic facilities such as drinking water to the workers at the workplace.

The Collector asked the officials to take proper care of health of the workers as temperature is rising every day. More days of employment should be provided for delta area. Emphasis should be given for protection of saplings planted during the summer period. He instructed the officials to improve the position further as he would convene a video conference with field level officials within a week.
