CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurates a host of facilities in Vizag

Visakhapatnam : Felicitation of women cricketers, inauguration of cancer centre at Arilova, inauguration of Sea Harrier Museum at RK Beach and launching of indoor sports arena at MVP colony marked the hectic one-day schedule of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to Visakhapatnam on Thursday.

Jagan Mohan Reddy felicitated women cricketers K Anjali Sarvani and Shabnam for playing in the under-19 cricket tournament and handed over medals and a cash prize of Rs10 lakh each. The CM asked the representatives of the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) to strive to groom youth as international cricketers and assured them of support from the state government. He also instructed the secretary of ACA to prepare a roadmap to identify potential players and groom them.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated a dedicated cancer centre at Apollo hospital. Jagan lauded the hospital’s efforts in bringing Asia’s finest integrated healthcare to Visakhapatnam.

He said with cancer gripping our nation each day there has been a rise in mortality rate. This is an issue that needs to be addressed. The launch of the cancer centre showcases the efforts invested in bringing world class technology and infrastructure in AP which would help in making Visakhapatnam a hub for quality cancer treatment,” he said. Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Prathap C Reddy and executive vice chairperson Preetha Reddy said the mission was to bring world class healthcare within the reach of the people. She said Andhra Pradesh is the first state to have TrueBeamSTx, an advanced radiosurgery treatment system that allows doctors to target hard-to-reach tumours. Later, the CM inaugurated the Sea Harrier Museum at RK Beach in the presence of Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta and other officers followed by the launch of an indoor sports arena at MVP colony. He also laid foundation stones for the fish landing centre and Kapu Bhavan.
