Civil Supplies Department to open 15 purchase centres in Srikakulam
Srikakulam: Officials have made arrangements for procuring paddy from farmers from November 12. As many 152 purchasing centre will be opened in the district, according to officials.
The district Civil Supplies Corporation and Civil Supplies and Marketing departments, besides District Rural Development Agency will procure the paddy from farmers. The officials target to procure 9 lakh tonnes of paddy through purchasing centres.
The State government fixed the minimum support price (MSP) at Rs 1,815 per quintal for A-grade, District Manager for Civil Supplies Department A Krishna Rao said the officials were creating awareness among farmers. All precautions were taken to ensure that paddy is purchased directly form farmers without meddling of middlemen.
