Tirupati: It was ridiculous that TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu claiming that he worked tirelessly for Tirupati development as it was he (Naidu) who stalled the growth of pilgrim city by keeping the development initiative taken up by previous Congress government in cold storage, said senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Dr Chinta Mohan.

Speaking to media here on Saturday, Chinta Mohan took objection to the claims of former chief minister who while addressing party workers here on Friday said that he worked day and night for the development of Tirupati.

The former MP said that TDP government shelved many development projects taken up by the Congress government including Mannavaram (NBPPL) Plant, Dugarajapatnam port in Nellore district, Cancer Institute in Tirupati and also RAY (Rajiv Aavas Yojana) for construction of 7,000 double-bed-room houses for the homeless poor living in the slums in Tirupati.

The Congress government completed the works of Tirupati International Airport that was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But not even single international flight was introduced though TDP senior leader Ashok Gajapathi Raju worked as Civil Aviation minister, he said.

The only development after TDP came to power was Garuda Varadhi which was taken up with the funds from TTD, the former MP said refuting Chandrababu claims.
