Central team promises timely compensation to cyclone victims

Madakasira (Sri Sathya Sai district): Inter-Ministerial central team representative P Devendra Rao assured the Cyclone Michaung victims that they will get compensation for their crop loss. He added that they will submit a report to the Central government in this regard.

On Thursday, he visited Moda village in Parigi mandal and Bullasamudram in Madakasira in the district and interacted with the farmers. He had a look at the photo exhibition reflecting drought conditions and crop damage at Kadarepalle Rythu Bharosa Kendram. The team members enquired over the loss with groundnut farmers at Kekathi village in Gudibanda village.

District Agriculture Advisory Board chairman A Ramanana Reddy, Joint Collector Chethan and Sub-Collector Karthik accompanied the central team members Devendra Rao, Dr Pradeep Kumar and Anju Basera.

MLA M Sankara Narayana joined the central team at Parigi village, while MLA Tippeswamy joined the team at Madakasira.

The officials briefed the team members that crop losses occurred in 73,566 hectares.

Madakasira MLA Tippeswamy urged the central team to supply fodder seeds at 100 per cent subside,

saying that farmers could not get even 50 per cent of fodder supply for their cattle. He appealed them to recommend for increasing NREGS working days from 100 days to 150 days to help the farmers to come over the drought crisis.Lalit Mohan Jha
