Cabinet to accept induction of APSRTC employees in Govt

Amaravati: The state Cabinet has commenced discussing the merger of employees of AP State Road Transport Corporation into the state government, at Secretariat just now today.

The Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy headed the cabinet. Since it has a stake of the central government in the APSRTC, the merger of the entire corporation will have certain legal and other issues. Hence, the government is inducting the employees into the government, in the first phase, based on the expert report submitted by the six-member committee headed by former IPS officer C Anjaneya Reddy.

The committee has submitted its report to the Chief Minister on Tuesday. Chief Minister gave principle approval for the proposal and the same is considering in the cabinet, according to the sources.

It is estimated that at least Rs 3,500 crore additional burden will be on the state exchequer per annum, after inducting the employees into the government.

The state government is going to create a separate department for the APSRTC on the name of the Public Transport Department.

On the other hand, the cabinet also will discuss the budget to be allocated for flagship welfare schemes under the Navaratnalu. It also finalize the Sand policy, before rolling out. Chief Minister already announced that the new Sand Policy to be announced on September 5. As the government experienced public anger for the artificial scarcity of sand in the state after the YSRCP came into power.
