BJP threatens agitation over Ganesh immersion in Kakinada
Kakinada: BJP on Tuesday gave an ultimatum to the State government that it would lay seize to the Collectorate here on September 12, unless the officials give permission to immerse Ganesh idols in Vinayaka Sagar at Bala Gangadhar Pranganam in Salt Creek.
Party president, Y Malakondaiah said that the Nagara Ganesh Samithi was taking out immersion programme for the past 30 years at the Creek. But this year, Kakinada Municipal Commissioner was adopting an anti-Hindu policy to divert the attention of the people from the irregularities in Kakinada Smart City project.
He alleged that Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy was supporting the anti-Hindu policies adopted by the officials. The BJP, Nagara Ganesh Utsava Samithi and other Hindu organisations supported the immersion programme to protect the sentiments of Hindu devotees as Lord Ganesh Festival was being celebrated by all castes with devotion and the officials are hurting their sentiments.
He said that Goshamahal (Hyderabad) MLA Raja Singh would visit Kakinada soon and a public meeting would be held to focus the anti-Hindu religious polices of the state government. Former MLA of P Gannavaram P Narayana Murthy, 36th ward corporator Saligrama Lakshmi Prasanna, the party city president Chitneedi Srinivas and others were present.
