Bank officials asked to intensify security at banks, ATM points
Chittoor: Additional Superintendent of Police ( Admin) E Supraja expressed her dissatisfaction as bank officials fail to provide adequate security measures to prevent thefts in banks. Neglecting the safety devices at the banks would lead to thefts, robberies and cybercrimes, she said.
The Addl SP addressed a bankers' meeting at Police Guest House Conference Hall on Sunday. Bank managers from various branches of banks were present at the meeting. She said that lapses of bank authorities were exposed in the case of Mordhanapalli Andhra Bank Branch.
``There are standing instructions from the police to the bank managers to provide effective security forces at their banks and ATM points, to safe guard the public money and gold ornaments in the lockers and iron safe and the bankers should strictly follow the guidelines scrupulously," she stated.
The banks have to compulsorily keep security guards round the clock at the banks and at the ATM centres. Due to gross negligence of the Manager and the cashier of Andhra Bank, Mordhanapalli, the appraiser was able to misappropriate over Rs.1.3 crore. with fake gold, she pointed out.
Chittoor DSP K.Eswar Reddy advised the bank managers to keep the phone numbers of all the police officers in their respective jurisdiction. CIs Bhaskar Reddy , Yugandhar, Balaiah and Lakshmikantha Reddy were present.
