Arrangements in full swing for conducting NIDJAM in Tirupati
Tirupati: Arrangements for organising 17th National Inter District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM) at Tarakarama Stadium in SV University from November 23-25 are in full swing.
As part of these arrangements training programme for Physical Directors, PETs and officials was held at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) auditorium on Saturday. TUDA Chairman Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy participated in the programme and assured all help for successful conduct of the Athletic Meet.
He said that Athletes have started arriving in the City and every care has to be taken to extend all cooperation to them. Whatever financial assistance required for the Meet can be provided by him as he already donated Rs.10 lakhs for the purpose. He released NIDJAM logo on this occasion.
Joint Collector II VR Chandramouli said that 5,111 athletes and officials from 469 districts across the country will participate in the Meet. The meet will be held for Under 14 and Under 16 categories, About 1,500 officials will be drafted for organising the Meet.
To provide accommodation to 5,111 persons 12 venues are getting readied and each venue will have one in charge. Buses will be kept at Renigunta and Tirupati railway stations to transport athletes to their respective venues.
A six-bed hospital will be set up at the stadium during the Meet. Tourism packages will be ready for athletes if they want to visit any places in the district. CEO of District Sports Authority (DSA) S Lakshmi and other officials participated in the meeting.
