Archer Dolly creates new world record in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: A seven-year-old archer from Vijayawada Cherukuri Dolly Shivani created world record here on Thursday. She achieved the feat by releasing 72 arrows at 15 + 15 meters distance in 48 minutes.

The representative of India Book of Record and Asia Book of Record Neeraja Roy Chowdary announced that Shivani had created the India Book of Record and Asia Book of Record on the occasion for the first time and handed over the certificate to Dolly Shivani at VMC Volga Archery Field, Vijayalakshmi colony, Mahanadu road.

Shivani released 72 arrows at the target at 15 + 15 metres distance and scored 710 points out of 720 points creating a new record. On the occasion, Shivani said that the new record will be dedicated to her brother and international archer Cherukuri Lenin.

The chief guest of the event was CPI state secretary Ramakrishna who congratulated Dolly Shivani on creating the new record. Academy president Ch Satyanarayana said that there are good archers in the academy and a few would represent India in the 2024 Olympic games and win medals for the country. A Chandra Rao, Yugendhar, Krishna Kumari, G Prem Kumar, KP Rao, Sivaram and others were present on the occasion.
