Amaravati: Government came to know that some bulk players resorted to misuse of the sand, which was purchased online from the AP Mineral Development Corporation. The perpetrators are reselling the sand in the market illegally. In order to curb this menace, the APMDC is introducing the Building Identification number, which a unique number is allotted by the Urban local bodies like municipalities and corporations to the builders while giving permission for construction of the buildings and apartments. The bulk orders will be synchronized with this unique number to ensure transparency.

M. Madhusudhana Reddy, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of APMDC Limited said that they noticed the misuse of the sand by the bulk ordering companies. The latest technology is being implemented to plug the loopholes, he told in an interactive session at his office in Vijayawada on Monday.

He said that there are more than 5,700 bulk players in the state including both realtors and the companies engaged in government works. After synchronizing the unique number with the APMDC's online system, the misuse of the sand will be drastically reduced, he hoped.

Madhusudhana Reddy also informed that the suspected orders will be sent for the Vigilance and Enforce department to ensure proper usage and book the cases on miscreants.

On the other hand, he promised that there will be no problem for the individuals who have been constructing their houses or any other constructions. The unique concept of sand at door delivery on the demand of customer eased the procedure. He said that the people could easily order from their mobile or computer or from Village or Ward secretariat and just wait for 72 hours. The sand will be at their doorstep, he said.

The government distributed more than 86 lakh metric tons of sand to the public through the door delivery system. Madhusudhana Reddy said that the AP is the only state which has been implementing the door delivery policy in the country.

It is worth mentioning that, even though the new sand policy was commenced in the month of September, the door delivery system is activated from January 2020.

The VC and MD said that there would be no scope for corruption and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed to lodge complaints even on Ministers and YSRCP leaders without sparing them. He warned that at least Rs 2 lakh penalty and 2 years punishment will be given to the convicts in these cases.
