The Andhra Pradesh government headed by Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has completed all arrangements to distribute the fifth instalment of free ration to the poor of the state.

The Civil Supplies Department will deliver the goods from 29 or 30 of this month. Beneficiaries will also be given 5 kg of rice along with 5 kg pulses in this instalment. Officials have already begun the process of shifting rice and condiments to the ration shops for about 1.48 crore cardholders.

On March 29, the AP government has been distributing free goods to the poor in four instalments. Village and Ward volunteers give coupons with time slot for beneficiaries each time. The cardholders have collected the ration from the respective ration shops and pick up the goods.

This time, the beneficiary biometric is mandatory under the regulations issued by the central government. Officials are urging people to wear a mask and practice physical distance at ration shops in the wake of Corona.
