Update: 2020-02-03 12:04 IST

The government has taken steps to implement a door-to-door delivery of sand across the state. The Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) is already implementing door-to-door delivery system in six districts at the behest of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The govt is now making arrangements to expand this process to all districts soon. On this note, APMDC officials are regularly reviewing the District Level Sand Committees (DLSCs) headed by collectors to expedite transport charges and speed up the registration of vehicles.

DLSC representatives, including the collectors and transport authorities of the respective districts are in talks with the lorry and tractor owners associations regarding the finalization of sand transport charges.

The door delivery of Sand is being done in East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Nellore, YSR Kadapa and Anantapur districts. Since the process was successful, the APMDC is making arrangements to implement Door Delivery Policy in all districts of the state by 14th of this month. Arrangements have been made to implement the new policy in the districts of Srikakulam, Vijayanagaram and Visakhapatnam from the 7th of this month.

The APMDC VC and MD Madhusudan Reddy asserted that they had delivered 1.80 lakh tonnes of sand in six districts. "This is proof that the new policy is successful and will be implemented throughout the state on the 14th of this month. We are currently paying transportation charges to vehicle owners who have delivered the sand. We are taking steps to make payments within 24 hours, " Madhusudan Reddy said.
