Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, referring to the 'Our governance-Your Suggestions' programme launched by the YSR Congress government on completing one year in the office, said that under the head of administration reforms, it is suggested to withdraw the proposal to shift the capital city from Amaravati. "The administration has come to a standstill following the decision to change the capital city," APCC working president N Tulasi Reddy pointed out.

In a statement here on Monday, he recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the capital city and Jagan Mohan Reddy as the Opposition leader on September 3, 2014 welcomed the decision. The capital city has been recognised in the Indian map and the administration has been functioning for the last five years. Assembly and secretariat buildings were constructed spending Rs 9,000 crore people's money.

Since the capital city is in the midst of the State, the YSR Congress administration should take into consideration the suggestion not to shift the capital if it sincerely welcomes the suggestions in administration reforms.

Referring to the welfare measures, Tulasi Reddy said that if the YSRCP government was sincere on welfare of the people, it should immediately close the wine shops throughout the state. The alcoholics were weaned away from the habit during the lockdown, he pointed out.

The power bills for the months of March, April and May should be completely waived and old slab should be implemented from June, he said. Every poor family who suffered during the lockdown should be provided Rs 5,000 of financial help.

Dr Reddy suggested to the government not to divert the funds of SC,ST,BC, Minority, Kapu, Brahmin corporations to Amma Vodi and Vahana Mitra schemes.
