Andhra Pradesh: CBI raids on former MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao's house and office
The CBI is conducting a search at the house of former MP and TDP leader Rayapati Sambhasiva Rao. The raids have been going on since morning at his residence in connection with the Trans Troy case. Several key documents appeared to have been seized in the deal. The CBI has not yet made any statement regarding these inspections. The CBI has registered a case against Rayapati companies for allegedly evading loans from banks. Twice in the past, CBI officials have conducted searches and collected valuable information.
The Rayapati's family members suspect that Sridhar, who was the CEO of the company, was involved in misappropriation of funds. It is learned that the family members had lodged a complaint with the CBI against Sridhar. To this extent, CBI officials are conducting searches at Rayapati's house, office as well as Sridhar's house. On the other hand, it is learned that the CBI informed the family members that Sridhar was trying to go abroad with a fake passport.
Raipati had taken a loan of Rs 300 crore from Indian Bank, but the loan had not been repaid. It seems that CBI officials are carrying out these attacks following a complaint by Indian Bank. The CBI did a similar probe a year ago.
Rayapati Sambhasiva Rao is a senior political leader in joint Andhra Pradesh. He won from Guntur as an MP from the Congress party. After the partition of the state, he said quit the Congress and joined the TDP. Although he was hoping for an MP ticket from Guntur, Galla Jayadev was already an MP from there hence contested from Narsaraopet and won a solid victory in the 2014 election. He contested from Narsaraopet again in the 2019 elections and lost.
