BJP state president Somu Veerraju arrested at Ramateertham

The BJP and Jana Sena led Dharma Yatra to Ramateertham has become tense in Vizianagaram district in protest of the destruction of the Kodandarama Swamy statue. While the leaders were preparing to participate in the event, some had already been placed under house arrest by the police. BJP state president Somu Veerraju was stopped by police at a local Ramateertham crossroads from visiting temple.

Police said that no rallies were permitted as section 30 was in force. Somu Veerraju was arrested in advance as part of this, police said. Police arrested several BJP leaders, including Somu Veerraju, and shifted them to Nellimarla police station. On this occasion, a scuffle took place between the police and BJP activists.
