Amaravati : Former Minister and TDP politburo member Kalva Srinivasulu on Friday accused the YSRCP government of trying to betray the backward classes and weaker sections by organising fake programmes like BC Sankranti only to make false claims and empty statements for their welfare.

Srinivasulu termed it as objectionable that the YSRCP BC Ministers and MLAs were heaping praise on their Chief Minister while at the same time they were unable to give even office addresses for the 56 Corporations that the government had formed for the BCs. Only such posts without offices, duties, funds and privileges were being given to the poorer sections while the Chief Minister's own caste persons got 80 percent nominated and advisor posts.

Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader deplored that the BCs have been subjected to unchecked suppression for the past 19 months just because they were known as a strong traditional support base for the Telugu Desam Party. It was only out of this political vendetta that Jagan Reddy had cut 10 per cent reservations for BCs in local bodies. As a result, the BC communities lost nearly 6,000 posts such as sarpanches, MPPs, ZPPs, MPTCs and ZPTCs.

Srinivasulu accused the YSRCP of running an oppressive 'Reddy Raj' in the State which is trampling upon all the Constitutional and democratic rights of the backward classes and the weaker sections. The BCs constituted more than 50 per cent of the total population in AP but all their benefits and financial support were snatches away by the present regime. Tools given to the BCs under Aadarana, cycles, tractors, JCBs and tippers were all lying waste because of the anti-BC policy of this Government. While doing such gross injustice, the Jagan regime is now organising false programmes like BC Sankranti to deflect public attention from its atrocities.

The TDP leader demanded that the YSRCP BC Ministers must give figures as to how many of the nominated and advisor posts were given to the BCS in the State. Under this regime of plunderers, all the key posts were given only one caste which belonged to the CM.

The so called Nethanna Nestham, Vahana Mitra, Cheyutha, etc benefits only reaching 25 per cent eligible BCs. The government has also stopped over Rs 15,000 cr funds annually under BC Sub Plan.

Srinivasulu deplored that the BC, SC, ST and Muslim minorites are being used only for the fake publicity of the ruling YSRCP and its false welfare programme.
