Amaravati: Government committed to save public money says Ajeya Kallam
Amaravati: The State administration headed by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is all the more committed to save public money, said Ajeya Kallam, Principal Advisor to the State government.
Speaking to the media at the Secretariat here on Friday, he said that the YSRCP government has proved its commitment to the public and its governing efficiency by successfully saving taxpayer's money worth Rs 2,072 crore through the reverse tendering process for the projects launched during the earlier TDP regime.
The government plans to utilise this money for many more welfare projects that could help and empower the people of Andhra Pradesh, he said.
Giving out the details of the reverse tendering process, he said that the present government was able to save Rs 1,130.18 crore from the projects handled in the Irrigation Department, Rs 200 crore on the projects handled in the Panchayat Raj division, Rs 361 crore from TIDCO, Rs 190 crore from GENCO, Rs 181. 29 Crore from the Education Dept.
Kallam mentioned that the Bhogapuram airport is now going to be built in an area of 2,200 acres only. It was previously planned to be built in 2,700 acres. This change releases an extent of 500 acres for other purposes and saves revenue of up to 1500 crore for the State.
Speaking further, Kallam said that the YSRCP government has brought in a Judicial Preview Commission headed by a retired Judge to preview the tender conditions, so that there are no tailor-made conditions to favour a select few contractors.
On this occasion, Kallam reminded that the welfare programmes like Amma Vodi, Rythu Bharosa and pension programmes were being driven more efficiently by the YSRCP government ensuring that the respective funds are reaching the people on time, every time.
He said that their government worked very hard to build a system that works like a well-oiled machine by introducing the Grama Sachivalayam and volunteer network. He said that this system has proved to be very effective in bringing the welfare programmes to the needy and eligible people in the State.
The conference was also attended by the N Srikanth, Secretary of Energy, Special secretary Duvvuri Krishna and Information and Public Relations Commissioner T Vijay Kumar Reddy.
