He said that all these cases were registered within a short span of two-and-a-half months. The DGP spoke to the media at the Police Headquarters at Mangalagiri on Friday.

He said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will announce 2020 as Women's Safety Year on March 8 on the occasion of the International Women's Day.

On that day, the police department will inaugurate 12 Disha Women Police Stations said that DGP. He explained that all the Women's Police Stations in the State were being upgraded as Disha Police Stations and the latest technology installed to handle the real time challenges faced by police during the collection of evidence.

He said that the government approved to establish two more forensic laboratories each at Visakhapatnam and Tirupati, in addition to the already functioning lab at the State capital Amaravati.

The DGP explained that they have been importing high-end technology for these labs. It will establish DNA profile in a couple of days, unlike other technologies which take more than 5 to 7 months for one case.

Speaking on the use of Disha App by women at the time of emergency, he said that the police were registering zero FIR and arresting the accused persons within minutes.

He added that even though the victim's mobile is switched off, they could alert the police by shaking their mobile three times. As soon as the victim shakes her mobile phone three times, the command control centre in Vijayawada will trace the location of the person and send the nearest police patrolling vehicle to the place.
