All smart city projects resumed in Municipal Corporation of Tirupati: Civic chief

Tirupati: Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) Commissioner P S Girisha said that nearly after a gap of two months, all smart city projects were resumed in the city.

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday at his office, the Commissioner said all the major projects in the city like Garuda Varadhi (flyover construction), solar power generation floating panels project and underground cabling for power supply works came to back on track.

He expressed happiness over Tirupati getting first rank in garbage-free category by Swachh Survekshan survey of government and added that temple city missed five star rating with just a few marks due to some lapses in maintaining sanitation.

"Pertaining to prevention of Covid-19, city residents should follow the self-regulations. It is the only solution to stop the virus spread from one persons to another person in day-to-day life. During the visit to markets or shops every one must to wear mask, that is mandatory for all," the Commissioner added.

Shopowners should take care about maintaining physical distance in front of their shops during the sales time, he stressed.

He informed that the MCT has distributed 7 lakh masks to city residents on behalf of AP state government and few more masks will be distributed soon.

Later, MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said that hard work of sanitary staff as well as officials and support of city residents only, the corporation had got number 1 rank in garbage-free city category in Swachh Survekshan survey.

He expressed confidence that in forthcoming year, the civic body will get five-star rank among all the cities in India.

In the press conference, Additional Commissioner D Haritha, Deputy Commissioner Chandramouleswar Reddy and SE Udaya Kumar were present.
