54 candidates lose deposits in Srikakulam

Srikakulam: In total, 54 candidates have lost their deposits in the recent general elections. As per guidelines, to protect deposit, a contested candidate should get minimum six per cent of votes out of total polled votes. Over 85 candidates are in race for 10 Assembly segments and one parliamentary segment in the district. Out of the total 85 candidates, 54 candidates lost their deposits as they failed to get even six per cent of votes out of total polled votes. For Srikakulam parliamentary segment, total nine candidates were in race.

The total votes are 15, 40, 170 of them 11,57,329 votes polled. Except TDP candidate, who won the seat and nearest rival YSRCP candidate, all other seven candidates from the Congress, BJP, Jana Sena lost their deposits. In Etcherla Assembly segment, total voters are 2,31,279 of them 1,95,372 polled. Here nine candidates contested and except the winning candidate from YSRCP and defeated candidate from TDP, all other 7 candidates lost their deposits. In Amudalavalasa segment, total voters are 1,87,744 and polled votes are 1,50,071. Here six candidates are in fray of them except YSRCP and TDP candidates, all other four candidates lost their deposits. In Srikakulam, total votes are 2,55,177 of it 1,77,297 exercised their franchise.

Here total contested candidates are eight except YSRCP and TDP all other six candidates failed to get deposits. In Itchapuram total voters are 2, 46, 228 of it 1,72, 423 polled here also except TDP and YSRCP all other four candidates lost their deposits. In Palasa, the total voters are 2,04,109 and polled votes are 1,50,691 except the YSRCP and TDP all other seven candidate failed to get six per cent of votes.

In Tekkali, total voters are 2,22, 222 and polled votes are 1, 76, 583 except TDP and YSRCP all other six candidates lost deposits. In Pathapatnam, the total votes are 2,16, 221 and polled votes are 1, 52, 599. Here also except YSRCP and TDP all other six candidates lost deposits. In Narasannapeta, the total votes are 2, 08, 469 and polled votes are 1,65, 449 except YSRCP and TDP other seven candidates lost deposits. In Rajam, the total votes are 2,19,313 and polled votes are 1,62, 534. Here also except YSRCP and TDP all other four candidates lost deposits. In Palakonda, total voters are 1,84,414 and polled votes are 1, 36, 712. Here also except YSRCP and TDP all other five candidates lost their deposits.
