25 skill upgrading centres on the anvil in AP
Vijayawada: As part of efforts to develop the core skills essential for jobs, the government of Andhra Pradesh is planning to establish 25 skill development centres to enrich the technical skills of students, said Prof K Hemachandra Reddy, Chairman, Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education.
Speaking at 42nd edition of `ICT Academy Bridge 2019' held here on Friday, he said the government also established an IT taskforce to design a policy document for skill development.
He said even though more engineering students are completing their graduation every year in India, the growth of technology is outpacing the skill sets of graduates. The educational institutions play a major role in bridging this skill gap. The current industry scenario demands the students to acquire knowledge in the cross functional domains.
Speaking at the event, M Sivakumar, Chief Executive Officer of ICT Academy said, "Giving back to society is the trait I learned through my 10 years of journey with ICT Academy. Bridge is the flagship event of ICT Academy, and was initiated to bridge the gap between industry and academia."
