Saplings being distributed to students

Vijayawada: Lions district coordinator, Global Worming along with the students of Bhashyam School organised an awareness programme, rally and human chain at Rythupeta of Nandigama to mark World Pollution Day on Thursday. About 2,200 saplings were distributed to the students and villagers on the occasion.

The chief guest of the programme was Nandigama sub inspector Ramakrishna. He said everyone should feel the responsibility to plant saplings and see that it grows into a big tree and protect the environment. He said that greenery would bring down the temperature levels and make living better.

Lions district coordinator Ramireddy Sridhar said that for better health one should have good environment, fresh air to breath, pollution free drinking water apart from money. Plants and trees play a key role in protecting the environment and everyone should take it as a challenge to plant saplings which is the need of the hour.

He further said that everyone should stop using plastic carry bags as it is one of the major hazardous things adding to pollution. Lion M Amaraiah, M Satyanarayana, Rajappa, Nageswara Rao, teachers, students and villagers were present.
