20L construction workers lost livelihood in AP: TDP

Visakhapatnam: TDP MLA and party workers on Friday staged a protest against the YSRCP government over the proposed sand policy. The TDP leaders pointed out that the two issues that bother the public were confusion prevailed over the capital Amaravati and the proposed sand policy.

TDP has called for a statewide dharna over the sand crisis which has affected the construction work gravely leading to unemployment problem across the State and loss of livelihood to the workers.

As part of the protest, South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar conducted a mock sale where he symbolically offered a kg of sand at a nominal price at Gandhi statue near GVMC.

He pointed out that more than 20 lakh construction workers lost their livelihood across the state as construction work came to a standstill in Andhra Pradesh because of acute sand scarcity. Due to lack of administrative experience, the MLA said the YSRCP government totally failed to handle the issues.

Demanding the government to implement a viable sand policy, TDP leader M Sribharat pointed out that the decision taken by the government affects lakhs of construction workers. Sribharat said he wanted to take the issue forward as a movement, involving likeminded persons.
