13 held for producing fake documents in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: The police on Wednesday busted a gang indulged in producing fake Aadhaar cards and identities to mislead the court.
Commissioner of Police R K Meena at a media conference here said the accused were involved in a similar case in 2016 as well.
The suspects, Gurrala Koteswara Rao, a native of Guntur, A Suryanarayana, a rowdy sheeter, and M Jagadeeswara Rao, among others had prepared fake identity cards, Aadhaar cards and rubber stamps to create fake guarantors to mislead the court.
Based on a tip-off, DCP (Zone I) S Ranga Reddy and the team of Maharanipeta police nabbed the main accused Koteswara Rao and two others at his residence.
About 13 persons were taken into custody in the case. A total of 129 fake rubber stamps, 21 original Aadhaar cards, fake property tax receipts and documents along with Rs.2,000 cash were seized from the accused.
The CP said Koteswara Rao followed similar modus operandi in 2016. "Though he was arrested, he came out on bail later. Since the gang used fake Aadhaar cards, it proved to be challenging to nab the accused who created fake surety papers by photocopying the original Aadhaar cards with another photo," the CP informed. About 150 such cases came to the notice of the police.
He stated that four advocates were said to be involved in the modus operandi and further investigation will be conducted and action would be taken against those involved in aiding the gang.
